I'm Directing Mockus by George M. Johnson at Jupiter Theatre!

I'm thrilled to announce that I will be directing the mainstage production for Jupiter Theatre's 2019/2020 season: Mockus by George M. Johnson! It's a terrific play and one that I'm so excited to be tackling again.

I directed the world premiere of the show in 2016 with Chimera Theatre and since then the script has undergone serious changes (there's a whole new scene!) and it keeps getting better and better. I love directing and producing new works because seeing them evolve from workshops into productions is so rewarding. For this show, I'm also going to be doing the choreography and fight direction and I'm excitedto flex those muscles again. We start rehearsals at the beginning of February and the team I have right now I'm really looking forward to working with. They are all fantastic and so inspiring.

This show is so beautiful and I can't wait to share it with Calgary! Stay tuned for more updates soon!

OTHER NEWS

Apparently 2020 is going to be a busy year because I have a lot coming up. Here's a quick snapshot of what we're looking at right now:

  • The New Play Development Program with Jupiter Theatre has been working on my musical! We haven't announced what the show is titled or what it's about but it's been so rewarding to hear my music being sung by performers for the first time!

  • I'm directing Trauma with DIY this Spring! To find out more about this fantastic (and heart-wrenching) show, visit DIY Theatre's website.

  • I'm also working with Artists' Collective Theatre to produce the 2020 Canmore Summer Theatre Festival with Pine Tree Players and DIY Theatre. We're producing The Hobbit (which is one of my all-time favourite books!) and Much Ado About Nothing (which is my favourite Shakespearean Comedy).

  • In January, I've also been working as the Interim Producer at Ghost River Theatre, who I've been wanting to work with for years, even before I moved to Calgary. There work is tremendously interesting and impactful and I'm so glad I've had the chance to contribute to their work. If you remember, GIANT was in my top 10 plays last year and I can't wait to see what else they're doing in the future.

Because I've been so busy, I haven't been blogging as much, but I'll try and keep things a bit more up to date in the rest of 2020, so keep your eyes peeled for more on these projects in the upcoming months!
