I'm very excited to announce that I have been cast in the role of King Louis XIII in the world premiere of Project X Theatre's new adaptation of The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas! In this exciting and fast-paced script I will also be playing a host of ensemble roles and it's all going to be happening as part of X-Fest 2018 this summer!
And if you haven't already heard, I'll be directing the summer festival's other play The Three Munschketeers, stories by Robert Munsch, adapted by Debbie Patterson. So it will be a busy summer filled with musketeers!
I'm particularly excited about these shows because I'm a huge fan of Alexandre Dumas and love The Three Musketeers. As a teenager, I watched The Count of Monte Cristo (2002, the Jim Caviezel and Guy Pearce version) and immediate loved it. I've watched it many, many times since and it remains in my top three movies to this day. Following that I've read that book and The Three Musketeers (both of which are massive) and I loved them both. The two stories are one of the reasons why 19th century novels (primarily French) are my favorite and Early Modern France is is my favorite era of history. I mean...guns AND swords?! You can't get much cooler than that.
I'm looking forward to playing this summer with a great cast and working on a great story! If you're in Kamloops in the summer, make sure to come see this production that I'm in and stay around for the production that I'm directing!
